Day 356 - The Day I Saw the Devastation

We stopped by Balulang, which is one of the barangays worst-hit by the flooding during Typhoon Sendong. I've seen pictures and video on Facebook, YouTube and on TV, but it couldn't prepare me for seeing the site with my own eyes. It was heartbreaking to see the damage - this area once held 19 houses, and all that remained was the floor. The rest were swept away.

Ben Macadine, a carpenter, digging through the silt to reveal the floor of his home. Everything else was washed away by the flood.

    Grabe pala sis, just looking at the pictures makes me sad, ano pa siguro kung andyan ako, baka nakatunganga na lang ako :(

    Grabe talaga. I still can't believe this happened. I know there are areas there na binabaha talaga but not of this magnitude. Then I remembered last June or July binaha din kami sa Davao. Mabuti na lang nakatawid sa kabilang bahay kung family ko. Around two months din bago sila naka-uwi dun ulit. Now I still see the effects of those flooding that's why I wanna find a new place.
